Whims Terms of Service

Version: 2026-07-30

Whims, accessible at whims.fun and operated by Whims LLC, is a private, invite-only app for small groups of families to share and coordinate spontaneous kid activities. You sign in with your Google account, and access is granted only if someone already using Whims has invited your email address. By accepting an invitation or using the app, you agree to these terms.

Who can use Whims

Whims is intended for use by parents or guardians who are at least 18 years old, on behalf of their family. Whims identifies members by family name, not by any child's name — there is no dedicated field for a child's name or identifying information anywhere in the app. Access is by invitation only: someone already using Whims — the creator of a specific group — has to invite your email address before you can sign in. Your access can be paused or revoked at any time, for any reason, either by the administrator of Whims or by the person who invited you into a given group, including but not limited to misuse of the app or a member leaving the group.

Your account and sign-in

You sign in to Whims using your Google account. There is no separate Whims password or access code — your Google sign-in is what proves your identity, matched against the email address that was invited. Keeping your own Google account secure is your responsibility. If you believe your access has been compromised, contact the administrator.

Posting activities and using the app responsibly

When you post a "Whim" (an activity) or respond to one, you agree to:

Whims has no dedicated field for a child's name or identifying information anywhere in the app — members and households are identified by family name only. Free-form fields, such as an activity's notes or the optional "kid code" field, are saved exactly as typed. If you choose to type a child's name or other identifying detail into one of these fields, that text is stored as entered — Whims has no way to detect or remove it. Using initials or general descriptions instead is strongly recommended, and remains each parent or guardian's own responsibility.

Ownership and intellectual property

Whims — including its name, logo, visual design, source code, and all other underlying technology — is owned by Whims LLC and is protected by applicable intellectual property laws. Nothing in these terms transfers any ownership interest in the app, its code, design, or trademarks to you.

We grant you a limited, personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, and revocable license to access and use Whims solely for coordinating activities with your invited group. This license does not include any right to:

Any attempt to do the above is a violation of these terms and may infringe our intellectual property rights.

In-person activities — your own responsibility

Whims is a coordination tool only. It does not organize, supervise, staff, or guarantee any activity posted through it. Whether and how you and your family participate in any activity — including supervision of your own children — is entirely your own decision and responsibility.

Whims, its administrator, and the family who posted an activity are not responsible for any injury, loss, dispute, or other incident that occurs before, during, or after an activity coordinated through the app. By attending any activity found through Whims, you do so voluntarily and at your own risk, and you remain responsible for your own children's supervision and safety at all times.

Content and accuracy

Members are responsible for the accuracy of what they post. Whims does not verify the details of any activity and makes no guarantee that a posted activity will occur as described, or at all.

No warranty

Whims is provided "as is," without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied. We don't guarantee the app will be uninterrupted, error-free, or available at all times.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Whims and its administrator are not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the app or your participation in any activity coordinated through it.

Ending your access

You may stop using Whims at any time. Either the administrator or the person who invited you into a given group may pause or end your access to that group at any time, as described above.

Changes to these terms

If these terms change in any meaningful way, we'll update the date at the top of this page.
